The explanation received from ITAC regarding the differences between the published wheat import tariff of R851.50 p/t and the
triggered tariff of R856.34 p/ton, is that SAGIS should clarify to the industry that its calculation is an “interim” calculation that will provide an indication of the change in the level of customs duty on wheat and wheat flour, but that a final calculation/duty must await ITAC’s calculations, which is in line with the Commission’s recommendation as set out in ITAC Report 538.
