The
National Crop Estimates Committee made the third estimate for winter crops
on 22 November 1999. Drought conditions in the Western Cape and the Eastern Free State had a negative impact on both the quality and the mass of the expected wheat crop. In the Western Cape the expected crop decreased by almost 6%, from 635 000 to 600 000 tons. In the Free State the decrease was almost 12%, from 450 000 to 395 000 tons. In the Northern Cape and North-West Provinces, where wheat is produced under irrigation, the yield is better than originally expected. In the Northern Cape, the expected crop increased by almost 4%, from 236 000 to 245 000 tons and in Northwest by 9%, from 128 000 to 140 000 tons. In total, the wheat crop shows a decrease of 71 500 tons (5%). In the Western Cape the barley crop decreased by 20%, from 125 000 to 120 000 tons. Die
Nasionale Oesskattingskomitee het die derde oesskatting vir wintergewasse
op 22 November 1999 afgehandel. Droogte
toestande in die Wes-Kaap en die Oos-Vrystaat het ’n negatiewe
uitwerking op sowel die gehalte as die massa van die verwagte koringoes
gehad. In die Wes-Kaap daal die verwagte koringoes met bykans 6%,
vanaf 635 000 tot 600 000 ton.
In die Vrystaat is die afname bykans 12%, vanaf 450 000 tot
395 000 ton. In die
Noord-Kaap en Noordwes Provinsies, waar koring onder besproeiing geplant
word, lyk die opbrengs beter as wat verwag is.
In die Noord-Kaap styg die verwagte oes met bykans 4%, vanaf 236 000
tot 245 000 ton en in Noordwes met 9%, vanaf 128 000 tot 140 000ton.
In totaal toon die koring-oes ’n afname van 71 500 ton (5%).
In
die Wes-Kaap is die gars-oes met 20% verminder, van 125 000 ton tot
120 000 ton. Oesskattings sal so gou moontlik ná bekendstelling op die internet-webruimtes van die Nasionale Departement van Landbou (NDL): http://www.nda.agric.za, en SAGIS: http://www.sagis.org.za, beskikbaar gestel word. |
