Die
Nasionale Oesskattingskomitee het die vierde oesskatting vir wintergewasse op 17
Desember 1999 afgehandel.
Die
totale koringskatting is verhoog van 1,509 na 1,520 miljoen ton.
Die grootste enkele rede vir die verhoging is die regstelling van die
skatting vir die Vrystaat. As
gevolg van onvolledige inligting is die skatting in die Vrystaat tydens die
November vergadering van 430 000 na 395 000 ton verminder. Meer volledige inligting is nou ontvang en die skatting
word reggestel na 430 000 ton. In
die Wes-Kaap is die skatting met 10 000 ton verminder na 590 000 ton.
Die oes proses in dié provinsie is nou afgehandel.
In die Noordwes Provinsie het die droogte sy tol geëis en is die
skatting verminder van 140 000 na 124 000 ton.
Die skatting van gars is ook in die Wes-Kaap verminder van 100 000 na 85 000 ton en die van lupine van 15 500 na 13 000 ton. Die skatting van die ander gewasse is onveranderd gelaat.
The
National Crop Estimates Committee made the fourth crop estimate for winter crops
on 17 December 1999.
The
total crop estimate for wheat has been increased from 1,509 to 1,520 million
tons. The major reason for this
increase is the adjustment of the estimate in the Free State. As a result of incomplete information received, the
estimate in the Free State was reduced from 430 000 to 395 000 tons
during the meeting in November. Updated
information has now been received and the estimate is adjusted back to 430 000
tons. In the Western Cape the
estimate is reduced by 10 000 tons to 590 000 tons.
The harvesting process has been completed in this province.
In the North-West Province the drought took its toll and the estimate is
reduced from 140 000 to 124 000 tons.
The barley estimate was reduced in the Western Cape from 100 000 to 85 000 tons and lupins from 15 500 to 13 000 tons. The estimates of the other products remained unchanged.
